Chris Jericho is incontrovertibly one of the greatest to ever step foot in the squared circle. With a legendary career spanning three decades, the AEW star has carved a Hall of Fame-worthy career. However, the 53-year-old has an unorthodox approach to sculpting his wrestling legacy. Chris Jericho recently unveiled his perspective on WWE‘s prestigious Hall of Fame ceremony.
During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s INSIGHT, Jericho was asked if he thought he would be a future WWE Hall of Famer. Y2J responded by saying that he desires, like Guns N’ Roses lead vocalist Axl Rose, to go against the conventional grain. With utter disregard, he went so far as to say that the HOF conducted by WWE is not authentic.
Furthermore, the 53-year-old questioned the significance of the HOF, indicating that it’s a concept hammered out by WWE. As a result, the multi-time world champion believes his induction into the HOF is inconsequential. Moreover, he expressed his misgivings about encapsulating a decade-long career in a 5-minute approved speech.
It’s all kind of in WWE’s mind in their chambers of the mind. And, I mean, it doesn’t really matter if I’m in it or not. You go up there and give some approved speech where you have 5 minutes to f**king encapsulate 33 years.[23:30-24:53]Chris Jericho on Insight
As a result, the idea of Hall of Fame induction doesn’t interest the former WWE superstar. Jericho also clarified that he doesn’t disrespectfully mean any of it. It is, however, a personal choice to bypass the HOF. The superstar asserted that he would prefer to go against the grain and do the opposite.
Chris Jericho breaks his silence on CM Punk’s historic return to WWE
Chris Jericho and CM Punk may not be the best of friends in real life. However, the superstars have a few things in common as far as their wrestling careers are concerned. Both of them catapulted to worldwide stardom in WWE and later joined AEW as two of its biggest signings ever. Jericho is still All Elite, and Punk nevertheless returned to WWE.
While speaking in the aforementioned interview, Chris Jericho offered his candid thoughts on CM Punk’s most recent WWE return as well. The 53-year-old stated that Punk’s return doesn’t surprise him in the least. Y2J believes that Vince McMahon always makes decisions in the best interests of the company. Although McMahon is no longer in charge of WWE, Triple H learned the ropes from the former, said Jericho.
I mean it doesn’t surprise me. I mean it’s the Vince attitude like if you can make money with somebody then you bring them back. But Triple H learned from Vince once again and the fans, keeping the fans entertained and happy.Chris Jericho in Insight
Furthermore, the AEW star cited the examples of nWo and Eric Bishoff, who WWE reintroduced into WWE. Jericho also acknowledged CM Punk’s return becoming the most social moment in WWE history. As a result, the company bringing the Straight Edge Superstar back doesn’t shock him. Moreover, Punk is set to make his first-ever SmackDown appearance in over a decade this week.
