“Vince wanted that match to be 2 minutes long”- Chris Jericho recently provided some insights of his Wrestlemania match

Chris Jericho has recently revealed some interesting things about his Mania'28 match.

Former WWE superstar, Chris Jericho has recently revealed that his match against CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship wasn’t going to last more than 2 minutes at Wrestlemania 28. Although it later went on to go over 20 minutes in length and became one of the best championship matches in the entire Wrestlemania history.

At the grandest stage both CM Punk and Chris Jericho battled it out and gave their absolute best to grab the attention of the WWE Universe in which they were successful to do so. In the result, Punk retained his title after forcing Y2J to submit on his submission maneuver, the Anaconda Vice.

One of the penultimate reasons why that match went a bit underrated by WWE fans was the presence of two heavy hyped and star studded bouts on the Mania card with one of them being the Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Triple H while the other one was The Rock Vs John Cena which was built up as a “once in a lifetime” Match.

These two mega attractions obviously overshadowed the World Title match between Punk and Jericho, although the match was excellently executed in it’s own right. Y2J went onto reveal the following things about that match on the latest edition of Talk is Jericho,

“I think that match [CM Punk vs. Jericho at WrestleMania 28] is a little underrated because of that [Rock vs. Cena along with Undertaker vs. Triple H being on the show] and I’ll also tell you one last little thing about it is Vince [McMahon] wanted that match to be two minutes long. Punk and I had visions of being Savage/Steamboat for the modern age.”

As revealed by himself, Jericho wasn’t in support of that decision as he and Punk had encapsulated their vision to make that match a Savage/Steamboat modern era classic.
