No one really knew Cody Rhodes at that point” Chris Jericho says AEW helped Top WWE star to Reinstate his career
Cody Rhodes‘ WrestleMania return took everyone by surprise as no one has expected The American Nightmare to show up at the grandest stage of them all.
Cody was immediately put in a feud with The Visionary Seth Rollins until he was outset from In-ring competition due to a ruptured pectoral muscle that he suffered while working out for his ultimate showdown at Hell in a Cell. Despite the injury Cody Rhodes fought the match and was lauded for his gallant effort.

Chris Jericho feels that AEW helped Cody Rhodes to reinstate his career
However, Rhodes after leaving the company in 2016 had joined AEW as the executive vice-president of the company. Before that Rhodes was having a forgetful run in the company with the Stardust gimmick, thus he had requested his release from the company and joined the rival promotion.
However, Rhodes shockingly left AEW in 2022 after failing to negotiate the contract. Now, Chris Jericho, who was also one of the very first wrestlers to sign with AEW has opened up on Cody Rhodes’ departure from the company and returning back to WWE.
Jericho said that AEW played a crucial role in reinstating careers of Cody Rhodes and The Elite as well. He explained that people had almost forgotten Cody when he left WWE as Stardust and AEW gave him that platform to rebuild his career as a main event superstar.
He also commented on The Elite by saying that guys like Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were more of a “regional thing” rather than global stars. He said that AEW helped them to make a name for themselves around the world and especially the United States.
While speaking on the latest episode of AEW: Unfiltered, Jericho said- ” Keep in mind, no-one really knew Cody [Rhodes] at that point. He’d been gone for years; the last time we’d seen him, he was Stardust when he left [WWE.]
“And as much buzz as Kenny [Omega], and Matt and Nick Jackson had, they were still mostly just regional guys. They were worldwide stars, but when it comes to national TV in the States, they didn’t have any experience with that.”
He further said AEW would have grown without any of these superstars including him but accepted that all of them had lent a great hand in helping the company to grow faster and reach the position where it is right now.
While Cody Rhodes is out of action due the injury, The Elite is suspended after a physical altercation with CM Punk after ALL OUT Media Scrum.
