On a show where WWE teased a major announcement from Triple H, which didn’t go as the fans expected it to, CM Punk took center stage. On the WWE Preview Special on Peacock, The Best in the World tapped into a plethora of topics, including his groundbreaking return at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Despite facile rumors, not many fans at the Allstate Arena believed it would happen. Detailing the turn of events that marked his return to WWE, Punk said that while driving to the arena in his hometown, he tried to ping people in his orbit about what was going to happen.
That’s how you get things done in this business. You keep things close to the vest. You don’t leak stuff. That’s when the magic happens. It was a magical moment. There were so many things going through my head. The nerves, people I hadn’t seen in ten years.CM Punk on his WWE return
He undermined the importance of keeping things close to someone’s vest in wrestling and implied not leaking stuff. And that’s how magical moments are produced—unfazed by rumors. When he walked into the building, Punk had a sense of trepidation.
The 45-year-old walked through the curtain and encountered faces that he hadn’t seen in nearly a decade. But when he emerged in front of a vociferous bunch of folks at the Allstate Arena, Punk was blown away by the reaction he got. It’s been well over a month since he came back to WWE, and CM Punk has proven what he could bring to the table.
How’s CM Punk been since his return?
The company has only witnessed new heights since bringing CM Punk under the umbrella. His return clip took less than three days to become WWE’s most social post of all time. Also, he maintained the pole position on the merchandise chart for December.
Then, Punk helped WWE sell out a couple of house shows he wrestled at as part of the WWE Holiday Tour. Moreover, he’s been a completely different individual thus far.
From giving valuable feedback to NXT talent to burying the hatchet with Triple H, the Straight Edge Superstar is due for a lengthy documentary. Speaking of his return to WWE television, Punk will be back this Monday on Raw. He’ll try to build some momentum towards the 30-man Royal Rumble match, scheduled to happen later this month.
