The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has been the top guy in WWE for a while now. Ever since his return, Rhodes had only one goal, and that was to finish his story. Although he came close at WrestleMania 39, he was unsuccessful in doing so. Now, it looks like the odds of Cody finishing his story at the Show of Shows are once again in jeopardy. He talked about the possibility of Dwayne Johnson or CM Punk replacing him in the main event of WrestleMania.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, The American Nightmare broke his silence on the subject matter. He stated that he understands the star power of The Rock and CM Punk. Moreover, there is a stacked roster in WWE right now. However, even if the odds are against him, Cody is working it out to make it happen.
The Rock is The Great One–he’s still electrifying. CM Punk is one of the greatest stars in the history of wrestling. I know what I’m up against. Look at the roster–it’s loaded with stars. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m not flinching. I’m not rooting against anyone else, I’m just working to make it happen.Cody Rhodes on Sports Illustrated
The People’s Champion returned to Monday Night Raw last week to call out Roman Reigns. Henceforth, rumors of The Rock and the Tribal Chief colliding at WrestleMania have been surfacing on the internet. These rumors have certainly jeopardized the chances of Cody Rhodes’ headlining the Show of Shows against Reigns.
The Showcase of the Immortals is set to be a two-night event. It is for sure that Roman Reigns will be defending his title in the main event of WrestleMania 40. At this point, it is unclear who is going to face him. Cody has declared himself for the Royal Rumble match, and it looks like he is one of the most prominent contenders to win this year as well.
Matt Morgan believes if Cody Rhodes doesn’t not finish his story at WrestleMania, WWE would lose its credibility
Cody Rhodes has been all about finishing his story ever since his return to WWE in 2022. Fans have been behind the American Nightmare for months now, rooting for him day in and day out. Recently, WWE legend Matt Morgan stated that if Rhodes is unable to finish his story at WrestleMania this year, WWE will lose its credibility for years to come.
On Gigantic Pop, Matt Morgan stated that there is no option of Cody not finishing his story. If Rhodes is unable to get redemption, fans will lose faith in the company. Moreover, he clearly pointed out that the fans are attending the Show of Shows in Philadelphia in order to witness The American Nightmare redeeming himself by defeating Roman Reigns.
So, here's what I think. Can I get my prediction? I do think that Cody has to be able to finish the story. He does. He has to. Nobody is gonna trust that company again. We went on a very long road down this rabbit hole with WWE Creative and said, 'Okay, you screwed us at 'Mania by not having him win. We were pissed. We paid money to see it. You took it away from us. Ha ha ha, good job.Matt Morgan on Cody Rhodes
Morgan is somewhere right on his end. There is a huge fanbase of WWE fans who want to see the 38-year-old dethrone The Tribal Chief. Only time will tell if that is going to be the case come WrestleMania 40. It is going to be interesting to see where the future of Cody is headed after a remarkable win on Raw this week.
