The defiant Cody Rhodes is a huge believer in tit-for-tat. No wonder he gave The Judgement Day a little taste of their own medicine when he interrupted the newly crowned tag team champions on Raw. After Finn Balor and Damian Priest kicked off the show in Dallas, The American Nightmare cut them off. Cody was fired up for a fight. 

Though he didn’t get into a match right there, Rhodes will have an opportunity to do so in Riyadh. Acknowledging Cody’s idea to bring the heat on, Damian Priest offered him a singles match, and Rhodes was happy to accept it. WWE has now made the bout official for Crown Jewel. It will be a different ask for The Prodigal Son, as he has not faced Priest in singles competition that often.

Also, to ensure that Cody doesn’t get to Saudi Arabia at his best, Judgment Day had a plan. Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, too, joined their boys to make it a 4-on-1 situation for Cody Rhodes. However, Jey Uso jumped on Dom from behind to take one down for the time being. Eventually, Jey too was out of the equation.

In the ring, Priest and Balor were hammering down on Rhodes. However, the latter forced a fightback and almost gained control, only to lose it right away, thanks to a returning JD McDonagh. The Irish Ace softened up Cody, and Priest did the rest of the damage. The Archer of Infamy struck Rhodes’ left ankle with a steel chair to worsen the matter. The WWE officials finally restored peace, but the damage was already done. Backstage, Cody hobbled with one good leg. 

Damian Priest said that Cody Rhodes has failed in his story

One specific thing that Damian Priest questioned Cody about was his story. To some extent, it has become a laughing stock on social media. Nonetheless, Priest inquired about The American Nightmare where his story currently stands. Before Dusty’s baby boy could say anything, Priest said that Cody had already failed in his story.

To avoid the fire cannon thrown at him, Rhodes unbuttoned himself and asked Damian to fight instead. However, it’s not that he can avoid that stuff for long. On the Season Premiere of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes got into Roman Reigns‘ face for the first time since Raw after WrestleMania 39.

The confrontation made it clear that they’re not done with each other, and a rematch is potentially in the works. In all fairness, that’s the exact story Cody needs to focus on, or else his return to WWE might result in an anticlimactic affair. Only time will tell when Reigns and Cody cross paths again.
