When Cody Rhodes won the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble, many fans thought he would defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so because of The Bloodline’s shenanigans. Now, before his rematch against The Tribal Chief, he talked about his potential failure to finish the story again. 

Cody Rhodes gave an interview on First Take and talked about what WrestleMania 40 really means to him. He stated that it was really important to finish his story at this year’s Show of Shows and that he simply could not afford to lose. The American Nightmare further added that if he lost against Roman Reigns, fans would lose all trust in him.

He even said that he would step away from wrestling and join the commentary team. He earned the opportunity to fight Reigns by winning the 2024 Royal Rumble. At first, the path for him to achieve his ultimate dream looked straight-forward, but with The Rock‘s introduction, it became a lot more difficult. The Final Boss made Cody’s life difficult at every step of the way, even brutally attacking him backstage.

Rhodes will try to defeat Reigns again at WrestleMania 40 in the main event of night 2. However, his focus would also be on the main event of Night 1, as he will team up with Seth Rollins to fight The Rock and Roman Reigns in a tag team match. If they lose, his title match will become Bloodline Rules, where anything goes. However, if they win, there will be no Bloodline during his title match

Cody Rhodes talked about The Rock mentioning his mother in their feud

The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and The Rock went out of control when the latter involved the former’s mother in their feud. He has been mentioning her name in his promos frequently, saying that he would make her son bleed. Now, The American Nightmare expressed how he felt when The Rock mentioned his mother.

Talking on The Today Show, the 38-year-old made one thing absolutely clear: The Great One crossed the line when he mentioned his mother. He further added that she has seen and experienced a lot in her life and will be present at WrestleMania. Rhodes vowed to prevent the 51-year-old from going anywhere near her. In return, he described Rocky’s mother as lovely. 

You know it’s gotten somewhere when you’re bringing the moms. She married my dad when he was at the height of his fame with the industry. She’s seen all this. So she’s coming into WrestleMania week Philadelphia probably with everyone wondering what she’s gonna do. she’ll be there in the front row. Rock ain’t getting nowhere near her, and if I could say anything about The Rock’s mom, lovely lady.

The American Nightmare also made this rivalry personal by slapping The Rock across the face when he spoke about his family. Although the most talked-about rivalry is between Rhodes and Roman Reigns, fans are really excited to see what he and Rocky are going to do when they are in the ring together.
