After declaring himself for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, Cody Rhodes‘ public address was cut short by Shinsuke Nakamura. It was then revealed that the Japanese wrestler had been calling out The American Nightmare all these past weeks. After saying he was done waiting, Nakamura spewed the poison mist all over Cody’s face. It did not bode well with Cody’s better half, Brandi Rhodes.

In a post on X, she revealed that she had a hard week. That’s why she needed a reason to misdirect her anger. And through his actions on Raw, Shinsuke Nakamura caught the ire of Brandi Rhodes. She even called the Kyoto-based wrestler a jacka**. Brandi’s been vocal about her husband’s WWE opponents, and she keeps calling them out.

The former AEW Superstar did the same when Cody Rhodes was beefing with Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, in particular. As for The American Nightmare, he needs to watch his back. The man who made him look like a minnow last night took Seth Rollins to his limits about a month back or so.

But now, after weeks of cryptic vignettes scouting his next prey, Shinsuke Nakamura is exuding a tantalizing charisma. Just when everyone thought that Cody Rhodes could finally refocus on trying to finish his story with Roman Reigns, The Artist came like a bump in the road for The Prodigal Son.

The next few weeks are going to be very interesting. Nakamura might explain why he chose Rhodes over anyone else. At this point, it’s not clear whether WWE has decided to go in this direction to kill some time on the road to the Royal Rumble or if they have a long-term vision.

Apart from everything that went wrong with Cody Rhodes on Raw, he first gave Randy Orton his well-deserved flowers. The American Nightmare expressed gratitude towards The Apex Predator for joining his team at Survivor Series and helping fend off The Judgment Day.

Rhodes mentioned how Randy did him a favor by letting him get the winning pinfall in a match, orchestrated by his late, great father, Dusty Rhodes. At the Survivor Series post-show presser, Cody openly admitted that his career would’ve easily nosedived had he not been around the 14-time World Champion.

At the end of the match, Randy said to me, 'Thanks for the phone call.' And I wanted to tell him 'Thanks for my career.' I keep thinking this is going to end and I couldn't have gotten to where I got had I not been around Randy.

There have been rumors suggesting that Randy might turn his back on Cody somewhere down the road. However, it’s too early to even think of it. They’ve had a lot of history together in this business. They were part of the iconic faction “The Legacy,” which was led by Randy Orton.
