“This is what I want to do,” AEW Superstar reveals Randy Orton fought with the management to have a storyline of former’s interest
FTR will forever be grateful for everything Randy Orton has done for their careers. The tag-team also recognizes their on-screen pairing with The Viper as their best main-roster time.

Randy Orton has become a full-blown legend of this industry in the past few years. He initially gained notoriety after the St. Louis native picked up a moniker of “Legend Killer”. And after almost two decades of unconditional service, The Viper is counted amongst the all-time greats. Throughout his journey, he ensured to highlight the real talent. Back in 2019, FTRKO was a thing. That was a villainous alliance between The Revival (now FTR) and Randy Orton.
The trio picked up steam in no time. Displaying similar cockiness and body language, The Apex Predator got personally inclined towards Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. Once they began teaming up, The New Day’s life became a living hell. This goes in line when Randy Orton was chasing Kofi Kingston over the WWE Championship.
However, nothing was served in silver spoon for FTRKO. As a matter of fact, Dax Harwood recently recalled what the actual behind-the-scenes were like at that time. Speaking on Dax With FTR podcast, the current AEW Superstar remembered The Viper’s rebellious mode towards the WWE management. To get things the right way, Orton even fell in a heated argument with Triple H over the creative plans.
In what was a blessing in disguise, Vince McMahon was way from the helm for some time. Despite all of that, Randy Orton rung McMahon to notify him what he wants to do. And in a rare royalty that very few have an access to, McMahon allowed The Viper whatever he had in mind.
“I remember him and Hunter actually getting into a little — I don’t want to say spat or an argument — but Hunter was trying to get Vince’s vision to Randy and just let it be because that would be the easy way out; Vince is going to fight for who he wants. And Randy finally called Vince and said, ‘This is what I want to do.’ And Vince said, ‘Okay, if you feel so strongly about it, let’s do it.”
Will Randy Orton ever wrestle again?
As known, owing to a devastating back injury he suffered in May, Randy Orton has stayed out. Initially, the damage wasn’t believed of such serious range as it later turned out. Also, there were some growing concerns within WWE about The Viper’s wrestling future.
At this point, nothing can be said in stone about Bob Orton’s son. Although he’s already undergone a back surgery, the 14-time World Champion won’t be back anytime soon. Around a month ago, his Hall of Fame father gave a subsequently relaxing update over his son. According to Bob, the fans will witness the return of Randy Orton eben before they expect him.
