Dominik Mysterio expresses his disappointment over recently released superstar leading to the cancelation of their upcoming match
Dominik Mysterio recently weighed in on Mustafa Ali's WWE release, which deprived both names of their originally planned match.

As much as he loves to bask in the disdain of the WWE Universe, Dominik Mysterio seems equally real in actual life. Thus far, he has managed to stay in character for the most part on television. However, at the end of the day, his emotions got the better of him. Potentially, that’s why he wasn’t able to hold onto his stitch during a recent interview discussing the WWE mass releases.
In an expected move post-merger under TKO Group Holdings, WWE cut nearly 20 superstars from its roster, including one of Dominik’s previously scheduled opponents, Mustafa Ali. They were to collide at this weekend’s No Mercy premium live event for the NXT North American title. That said, the Champion turned up sad during a conversation with In The Kliq podcast.
Realizing that such decisions come from the top management, he seemed quite disturbed from the inside. “Yeah, it’s a very unfortunate situation that very talented people have to go through situations like this,” said Mysterio. Not just for Ali, Dom expressed his discontent for everyone who received their respective termination letters from WWE midweek.
Dom captured the title from Wes Lee back in July. He successfully went on to defend the strap at NXT’s Great American Bash against Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in a high-octane clash. Needless to say, Rhea Ripley was there to take care of her Dom Dom’s business. Anyway, the decision to put that NXT North American Championship on Dominik has seemingly been a good one.
Dominik Mysterio set for a huge title defense on RAW
WWE has done one hell of a job trying to mix up the NXT talent with those on the main roster. That said, this coming week on Monday Night Raw, Dominik Mysterio will have to defend his title against Dragon Lee. With Mustafa Ali out of the picture, there’s no guarantee that Dom will retain his title to dupe it out at No Mercy with The Disruptor. It won’t be surprising if WWE pulls the trigger and hands Dragon Lee his first major title.
Back when the promotion signed Lee, everyone was excited to see how such a talented luchador would do in wrestling’s biggest promotion. Finn Balor played an instrumental role in convincing Dragon Lee to sign with WWE. Thus far, he’s had a dreamy run on NXT. However, he will have the single biggest match of his career against Dominik Mysterio on RAW this week in Ontario.
