Dwayne Johnson is a global icon, well-known for his acting and wrestling skills. Along with that, The Rock has prominently taken part in philanthropic activities, garnering praise from fans. Therefore, when the WWE legend launched the “People’s Fund of Maui” alongside Oprah Winfrey, there was genuine shock online. As a result, the celebrity duo received heavy backlash for seemingly asking for donations.
Recently, The Rock responded to the criticism in a clip posted on his Instagram account and apologized to the fans. First, the Brahma Bull revealed that around 1,000 families received the first round of funds after the devastating Hawaii wildfires. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to the people who helped support the lives of those affected.
The Rock claimed that he had kept “receipts” while referring to the backlash received online. Moreover, he completely understood the anger and admitted that the situation could’ve been handled better. “I understand money ain’t falling out of the sky, and it isn’t growing on trees. And there’s a lot of people out there who’s living paycheck to paycheck, and I get it, and I know what that’s like,” he added.
Also, the 51-year-old cited that he understood where the “frustration” came from, implying that the criticism from fans was justified. Currently, The Rock is on a break from Hollywood due to the ongoing actor strike. The former World Champion returned to WWE for a one-time appearance last month and confronted WWE superstar Austin Theory.
Potential update on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson returning at WrestleMania 40
Dwayne Johnson dropped a bombshell when he revealed that there were plans for him to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, which was almost locked. Furthermore, he asserted that he was “down” to appear on next year’s Showcase of Immortals. As many might know, The Great One is currently on a break due to the ongoing Hollywood strike.

Therefore, many fans opined that the dream match could be a possibility. However, it seems that the actors’ association is close to an agreement to end the strikes after the writers reached the same conclusion. Moreover, John Cena revealed that he will revert to acting once that happens.
Similarly to the Cenation Leader, The Rock might once again turn down the opportunity to compete against his cousin if obligations were to arise during the WrestleMania 40 season. Needless to say, the WWE Universe has to wait and see how the months leading up to the show play out.
