The Hawaii wildfires have seen many celebrities step up to support the affected people there. Dwayne Johnson and Oprah Winfrey created a fund to donate directly to the residents of Maui. However, fans have shown their discontent with this idea. They criticized both stars and asked them to make contributions from their end instead of asking for donations.

Winfrey posted a video made for the announcement of the relief fund on Instagram. It stated that the stars had a conversation about the adversities in Maui and came up with the idea of helping those affected. As a result, they created the People’s Fund of Maui to directly donate the money collected to Lahaina residents. They mentioned that every resident living in the areas of Lahaina and Maui who lost their homes due to the wildfires will be receiving help.

The controversy was raised against Winfrey and Johnson as they asked for money. Criticism filled the comments on the Instagram post. They stated that celebrities should make major donations from their side and not appeal for money from civilians. The heat increased so much that they disabled the comments section to prevent people from showing hate for the millionaire celebrities.

WWE superstar Bayley also joined the greater cause of donating to the people affected by the Hawaii wildfires. She announced on Instagram last week that an auction of her ring gear had been made for Maui Strong Fund. They will donate the proceeds of the auction to the Hawaii Community Fund.
