The September 15 edition of Friday Night SmackDown was an unmissable affair. The Rock made his stupendous return to the WWE for the first time in four years. The entire arena was reverberating with thunderous reactions from the crowd. The Great One reminded Austin Theory why SmackDown is “the people’s show.”

Pat McAfee kicked off the show as he addressed the Denver crowd. McAfee pleasantly surprised the WWE Universe with his unexpected appearance on the blue brand. As he hyped up the crowd, Austin Theory, the former United States Champion, interrupted him.

Theory interrupted McAfee with humiliating comments. The young superstars asserted that Friday Night SmackDown is his show. McAfee hit back at the superstar and said SmackDown is the people’s show. Then The Rock’s music hit the arena, which received a thunderous reaction from the WWE Universe. Watch the video here.

The Rock and Austin Theory had a back-and-forth exchange. The latter stole the Hollywood star’s iconic catchphrase and went on to say that it doesn’t matter what The Rock says. It prompted The Brahma Bull to hype the crowd to chant, “Austin Theory was an a**hole“. An enraged Theory tried to attack him, only for Rock to flatten him with a spinebuster followed by the People’s Elbow in the middle of the ring.

Pat McAfee opens up on The Rock’s shocking return to WWE

Last night’s SmackDown was star-studded with an incredible line-up of several superstars. But what made the show an unforgettable night was the return of The People’s Champ, The Rock, which came out of nowhere.

In a digital exclusive clip via WWE, backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton interviewed Pat McAfee, who also made his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 39. She asked him about his thoughts on his interaction with The Rock. McAfee expressed his gratitude for tonight’s moment with the Hollywood star in front of the entire WWE Universe.

He further added that it is a dream-come-true moment to share the same ring with The Brahma Bull. “I’m living not only my dream, but I know pretty much every kid that grew up in my generation”, said McAfee. He looked elated, as it was perhaps one of the biggest moments of his career.
