Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been the greatest example of someone who has achieved it all in every field he has been in. Whether it be his beginnings in professional wrestling or his lustrous career in Hollywood, Johnson has stayed relevant in the entertainment industry for a long time. And now that he has come up to this magnificent spectrum of life, he seems to have completed a full circle by reprising his role as The Scorpion King in the reboot series for The Mummy franchise.
According to the latest reports, Universal Pictures is rebooting The Mummy movies with the same cast as Stephen Sommers’. All reports suggest Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Oded Fehr, and Dwayne Johnson have been signed to reprise their original roles. The only person who has not been confirmed is the lead star, Brendan Fraser, who played Rick O’Connell in the trilogy.
The Mummy Returns, the second movie of the Sommers’ trilogy, is remarkable for having Dwayne make his Hollywood debut. While the first movie was rebooted once in 2017 with Tom Cruise, it still failed miserably. The film made Universal Pictures change its plans and broke its continuity by declaring it part of the ‘Dark Universe’. To make up for the loss, the upcoming reboot would feature the original cast with a new feel.
Johnson has also been cast to reprise his role as Maui in the live-action version of Moana. It is set to be released on June 27, 2025. His recent cameo appearance came in the Fast X movie, and he is set to return to the Fast & Furious franchise as well. But his entry into the DCEU saw him play Black Adam, which failed terribly at the box office.
Dwayne Johnson was considered to play Willy Wonka’s character in a cult classic

Dwayne Johnson made his Hollywood debut in 2001 with a sequel movie to The Mummy franchise. It was at a time when he was simultaneously working with WWE. With this project, his career saw a boost, along with wrestling. As he was considered for playing Willy Wonka’s role in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Johnson stated this trivia by himself on his Instagram, where his post stated the back story of Willy. Dwayne said that he was in talks with Burton about the role of Wonka but eventually got offered to Johnny Depp. The Rock gave proof of his humility when he said he was not even ready for that role at that point.
The People’s Champ made his exit from the Stamford-based company in 2004 at WrestleMania 20. He then focused on his work in Hollywood and ended up being a megastar until he came back to wrestle. His part-time re-run in the company came in 2011–2013 when he was in the main event of two consecutive WrestleManias.
