Given the kind of record-setting path Gunther is hellbent on, everyone wants a piece of The Ring General. He’s now been the Intercontinental Champion for over 250 days. After winning the title in June last year, Gunther has successfully aced each hurdle that came in his tracks. Now, he’s received a kind of challenge from the Guitar Specialist, Elias.

During a recent interview with WWE Die Woche, the older brother of Ezekiel was inquired about his WrestleMania dream opponent. At first, he reminisced about his past encounters with the likes of John Cena and The Undertaker. However, having a singles match with any of them seems impossible for Elias, by the looks.

Getting a bit more realistic, the 35 year old Raw Superstar namedropped Gunther. He even raised the bar and expressed his desire to wrestle the leader of Imperium in a massive Intercontinental Championship match. Although the idea is pretty dope and both men would definitely throw it out of the park, the current brand division is the only thing stopping them.

“Guys like the Undertaker, John Cena there’s two of the guys. I mean, you mentioned I’ve had my WrestleMania interactions with them. I’d love for it to play out in some sort of big-time matchup on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania. The here and now I’m trying to think of who is even in the running. GUNTHER, with the Intercontinental Championship. To have a big championship match at WrestleMania would be awesome.”

There’s no rest for the champ. After Madcap Moss won a grueling Fatal-4-way match on this week’s SmackDown, he’s now entitled to challenge Gunther next week. This is going to be the first major championship opportunity for the young and impressive Moss. However, that doesn’t change the fact he’s going to have a tough time in that ring when he meets the ever resilient Ring General.

Apart from Gunther, his boys Vinci and Kaiser can also play spoilsport for their boss’ challenger. It would seriously take an unimaginable effort from Emma’s boyfriend to even think of dethroning Gunther and end his incredible title reign. Anyways, going by the general observation, the Austrian wrestler won’t take long to put away Madcap. He’ll then move onto bigger things at WrestleMania on which his rumored opponents are Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.

According to a recent report from WrestleVotes, Gunther will defend his gold in a triple-threat contest against The Banger Bros. Plus, there’s also some hassle regarding Brock Lesnar being his potential WrestleMania opponent after their epic staredown during this year’s Royal Rumble match. WWE will have a hard time deciding the correct name to put against Gunther at Showcase of the Immortals.
