Without a doubt, Pat McAfee‘s return to the WWE commentary team has been quite a revelation. Most notably, his partnership with Michael Cole on Raw has provided fans with hilarious moments. The latest one came during the post-WrestleMania episode, where fan footage captured the NFL analyst trolling his partner.
During one of the commercial breaks, McAfee led the crowd into singing ‘Happy Birthday!’ to the veteran. However, the hilarious part about it is that yesterday wasn’t even Cole’s birthday. Since his comeback, the part-time wrestler has resorted to celebrating his co-commentator’s special day as a way to entertain the audience.
Evidently, Pat McAfee has been enjoying his second run in WWE. Whether it be dancing along to Jey Uso‘s entrance theme or staring down Gunther, the 36-year-old always finds a way to be involved. Aside from the energy he brings to the commentary desk, he is more than capable of bringing his own inside the ring. Therefore, fans have speculated on a possible match in the future for McAfee.
The former punter last competed at WrestleMania 39, where he defeated The Miz in an impromptu bout. Meanwhile, Michael Cole achieved a historic landmark at WrestleMania. He had the honor and privilege of calling the Showcase of Immortals for the 23rd time in his career. Hence, the legend has earned the right to be referred to as the current “voice of WWE.”
Pat McAfee recently took a shot at AEW
For the past week or so, the rivalry between WWE and AEW might’ve reached its peak. Both promotions have fired shots at each other. While CM Punk‘s explosive interview was the start of it, Pat McAfee instigated the matter further during the weekend. At WWE World, the NFL analyst hosted Rhea Ripley for the ‘Pat McAfee Show’.
While discussing The Eradicator’s on-screen relationship with Dominik Mysterio, McAfee couldn’t help himself. The Raw commentator claimed that without Mami, “Dirty” Dom would be wrestling somewhere else. Moreover, he took a shot at AEW by stating that he would be performing in front of 600 people.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the only jab taken at the Jacksonville-based promotion. On the same show, Triple H had earlier criticized wrestlers who work once a week, saying that they weren’t made for WWE. As such, it isn’t surprising to see that Tony Khan and AEW will be responding in their own way. On Wednesday night, The Young Bucks will present footage of the All In backstage fight, which involved CM Punk and ultimately led to his departure.
