Cody Rhodes has his sights set on Roman Reigns. After emulating last year’s performance, Dusty’s Baby Boy outright pointed at The Tribal Chief. And with that, the fans can consider their rematch a lock at this point. Twin brothers Jey and Jimmy Uso kicked off the men’s Royal Rumble match. They went all out and traded some heavy blows. Grayson Waller came in at 3. And next, a returning Andrade made his presence felt.

Bobby Lashley entered and cut everyone in half. He eliminated Carlito and Karrion Kross in quick succession. Finn Balor was number 14 and immediately threw Carmelo Hayes out. Cody Rhodes became a factor midway through the match. Intercontinental Champion Gunther was in the 18th spot, and he went straight after Kofi Kingston and eventually eliminated him. Bron Breakker made his Royal Rumble match debut entering 20th.

Omos was next, flanked by MVP, and eliminated Bronson Reed. Then Breakker threw Ivar out. Pat McAfee, who was on commentary, was the next participant and surrendered after 38 seconds. Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio eliminated Bron Breakker. R-Truth, at 24, tossed JD McDonagh in, and he was thrown out by Jey Uso immediately. Damian Priest came at 26 and eliminated R-Truth at one to ensure a chorus of boos.

CM Punk was handed the 27th spot, and he took the bull by the horns. Drew McIntyre got the penultimate entry, and he wreaked havoc. Sami Zayn was the last one to mark his presence in the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Rhodes, Punk, Cody, and Gunther were the final four. After a sustained beating from McIntyre, Punk was able to throw him out. Cody got rid of Gunther as well. Punk and Rhodes went to the wire until The American Nightmare edged him out.

WWE fans believe Cody Rhodes will finish his story at WrestleMania 40

During the closing moments of the men’s Rumble, the crowd seemed divided between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. However, The Prodigal Son kept his sangfroid and scripted history. The fans have a lot to say about Cody’s shock win over the once-honed odds-on favorite, CM Punk.

A fan said that it was the best possible decision WWE could’ve taken. Some people even think that The Rock is going to ply his trade somewhat soon. And as usual, there were a few who said the match felt boring and Punk needed to cross the line.

Most of them are hellbent on the fact that if Cody fails to dethrone Roman Reigns this time around, it would feel like a waste. However, The American Nightmare has now joined the list of a handful of superstars who’ve won back-to-back Royal Rumble matches.
