Last week on SmackDown, Santos Escobar ended his long-standing camaraderie with Rey Mysterio. After rendering a relentless assault on the WWE legend, Escobar turned heel. While Mysterio was getting brutalized by Santos, Zelina Vega couldn’t hold her emotions and she wept in agony. It has also been revealed that Rey Mysterio underwent successful knee surgery that was required to cure a torn meniscus.

He will likely be out of in-ring action for the next 6–8 weeks. However, there’s been a sizzling update on WWE’s plans for how they’re going to follow up on Escobar’s turn on Rey. Per Dave Meltzer on WON, it’s a faction vs. faction affair. At some point, Santos Escobar will likely get on the same page with Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde. And they’ll tee off with Rey Mysterio, Carlito, and someone else.

As of now, there’s no update on how WWE will fit Zelina Vega into the feud. Moreover, the LWO name could be up for grabs, as the winner eventually gets to have it. Escobar looks primed to reform his NXT faction, Legado Del Fantasma, once again on the main roster. They debuted as LDF on SmackDown, and Zelina Vega was a new addition to the stable.

After spending a few months being absolute brats, the faction joined forces with Rey Mysterio to rechristen the LWO. For what it’s worth, the babyface stable became immensely popular among the WWE Universe. The merchandise sales skyrocketed, and every member of the group justified their spot. However, this time around, the internal dispute within the LWO family has fractured the entire backbone.

Santos Escobar asked Rey Mysterio to never come back

It still feels unreal considering the LWO has disbanded. And now, it seems like Santos Escobar hasn’t any soft corner left in his heart for Rey Mysterio. After the WWE Hall of Famer announced that needed surgery on his injured knee, the 39-year-old had some bitter words. Escobar told Mysterio to never come back.

And just like that, it’s over. Santos Escobar has fully detached himself from the man he idolized while growing up. Needless to say, Escobar’s heel turn was very believable, and the fans were excited to see how the other members would react. Zelina Vega was distraught last week.

Meanwhile, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde too went in disbelief. It will be interesting to see what Triple H has in store for tonight’s SmackDown, where things will escalate within the LWO.
