Finn Balor is a superstar with an unmatched caliber and potential. The Bullet Club leader became one of the top stars in his initial days in the company as he went on to win the inaugural WWE Universal Championship at Summerslam 2016. But, Balor has also been largely admired for his “The demon” persona which he debuted at the time of NXT instantly becoming one of the most liked characters in WWE.
Balor portrays The Demon as his alter ego and from time to time has presented the iconic avatar in many high-profile matches of his career. Though Balor has not dawned it since the loss against Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules and thus a lot of fans were disappointed with him for not portraying The Demon for so long. Now, it seems that the fans would have to wait longer to see Balor as The Demon in the ring.
Finn Balor says he wants more creative freedom with “The Demon”

In a recent appearance at the Cheap Heat podcast, Balor shed a light on the future of Demon and said-“I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. There will be no Demon tomorrow, [SummerSlam]. There will be no Demon in the foreseeable future. Once we kind of finish this story arc with The Judgment Day, we’ll get back on track with the Demon.” Balor said that he’ll return with The Demon when he is done with his current faction “The Judgement Day” and that is a creative decision he has to respect.
But Finn also reflected on having more creative control of his character of The Demon, something which he created. He also pointed out that he understands that when you work for a promotion like WWE you are bound by some rules, but he still believes that if he would have been given creative freedom, he had executed it very differently than what he does now.
Balor commented- “Working with a company that has so many different levels of management and different departments that need to be kept happy, something you lose is some of that creative license that you have when you’re independent. So, obviously, as a perfectionist and something that I created, I would like more control over it, but I understand the limitations when I work for a company like the WWE.”
So, it is indeed clear that we won’t be seeing The Demon on television anytime on TV soon, but it’s WWE where you should never say never. Also now that the creative directions have changed, can Finn expect more creative freedom for his character work? Do let us know in the comments below.
