Former WWE star hints at a possible Royal Rumble Return
Many stars are expected to return at the Royal Rumble match, which is just weeks away. A former WWE superstar has hinted at a possible return at the annual event.

Royal Rumble is just weeks away, and as always, there are many rumors and speculations about possible returns in the match. WWE marks the annual event as the start of the road to WrestleMania, with the winner of the Rumble getting a title shot at the grandest stage. Amidst this buzz, Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, has hinted at a possible return at the event.
Steven Fall of Ten Count podcast recently tweeted, “What Forbidden Door Entrants Would You Like To See In The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble??” with a photo of some stars from different promotions, including Matt Cardona. The former WWE Intercontinental champion quoted the tweet with the “eyes” emoji as if to say that the return might be a possibility.
The fans last saw Zack Ryder in WWE as a part of a tag team with Curt Hawkins. The company released the former Raw Team champion in 2020 as part of the “budget cuts” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has made sporadic appearances in AEW, Impact, GCW, and NWA under his real name, Matt Cardona. He won the world titles of both the GCW and the NWA in this period. Just like his real-life best friend, Cody Rhodes, Cardona has made his name outside of WWE and could return someday to have a shot at the WWE title, which has eluded him his entire career.

Royal Rumble 2023 rumors and speculations
The speculations, rumors, and reports for the Rumble match started happening months before. There are reports that The Rock might return and win the 30-man Rumble. Cody Rhodes, who got injured in June, is another big name floating around who might win the match and face the tribal chief Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. There are certainly more legends expected as always to have nostalgic pops amongst some old fans.
On the other hand, the women’s Royal Rumble match always consists of more shock debuts and returns than the men’s match. This is because WWE doesn’t always have depth in their female main roster. In the past, stars like Trish Stratus, Victoria, Lita, and Beth Phoenix made their returns only to get eliminated. However, unlike the men’s match, the current favorite to win the women’s match is not a returning star. According to some rumors, Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley are the favorites to win the 30-woman battle royale.
As the event gets closer, the fans can expect more such reports and tease from wrestlers outside the promotion. The Royal Rumble is one of the most popular match types created by WWE. The WWE universe waits the whole year to witness this spectacle on the road to WrestleMania.
