“Thinking they would follow us,” Former Raw Tag Team Champions wanted The Usos to join them in AEW

The Usos were expected for a company switch by a certain tag team, back when their WWE contract was set to expire in 2019. However, they chose what's best for them and decided to stay in the Stamford-based promotion.

There are a few acts going right now who deserves to be credited for saving tag team wrestling. Well, two of those duos are none other than The Usos and FTR. While the mighty Samoans are the flagbearers of WWE’s tag division, FTR have established themselves as one of the greatest teams of our generation. Back in 2019, when both teams were signed with WWE, they had quite a few weird segments together. Even though neither of the Uso had to face embarrassment, however, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler fell victim to some cringe comedy skits.

After weeks and months of poor utilization, FTR, then Revival in WWE, asked a public release from the company. And then in 2020, Dax & Cash got their wish fulfilled. During a recent edition of FTR with Dax Harwood podcast, things were made even more clear. Cash’s partner revealed how before receiving their releases, WWE offered them a big bag of money. However, they kept denying those baits and eventually signed with All Elite Wrestling later on.

At present, FTR has been granted an extended time-off with AEW. But, Dax recently noted how they were not the only ones who considered a move to AEW. Instead, they wanted The Usos as well to follow their steps and land in the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, that didn’t happened and Roman Reigns’ cousins further re-signed with WWE. Respecting their decision to stay, Dax Harwood implied that The Usos did what suited best for their families.

“And it was exciting to us before they signed, thinking that maybe they would follow us to what became AEW or whatever. Because if we went to AEW, and AEW had The Young Bucks, had The Usos, and had us, that would have been the three top tag teams in the world being able to finally work together and being able to finally, without any kind of training wheels on we’d be able to go full bore. But they did what’s best for them and their families.”

After last night’s Elimination Chamber event, a lot of questions needs to be answered. As seen, Jimmy Uso was clear in his mind to inflict maximum beating on Sami Zayn in Montreal. However, once Jey entered the fray, he resisted on hitting The Master Strategist with a steel chair. Upon acting such, Roman Reigns turned red and started shoving off his cousin like he did to Zayn at the Royal Rumble.

Eventually, Reigns retained his gold after a chaotic turn of events. After the match, Kevin Owens made his epic return to wipe-off The Bloodline and save his former best friend. Worth noting, Owens & Sami didn’t hugged it out in from of their hometown crowd. It will be very interesting to see where this heads in the coming weeks. The reported plans for The Usos at WrestleMania involves them defending the Tag Team titles against The Canadian Brothers, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.
