Cody Rhodes was at the top of the game since his return to WWE at this year’s WrestleMania. Rhodes soon began a rivalry with Seth Rollins and went on to beat him three times. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins gave us one of the best bouts in the history of WWE this year at the Hell in a Cell live event. Rhodes fought “The Visionary” with a torn pectoral muscle and won the bout, with many praising “The American Nightmare” for the display of his courage and audacity.

Soon after, Cody Rhodes was forced to go out of action due to his pectoral injury. Rhodes underwent a successful surgery on 9th June and is now slated to return after nine months. Many have speculated his return to be at Royal Rumble next year with some even saying that “The American Nightmare” may also win the Royal Rumble and may win the World Championship at WrestleMania next year, a belt that his father had never won in his career.

Cody Rhodes appeared via a video on the 27th June edition of RAW and said that rehab is a game of highs and lows and it pales in comparison to where he was three weeks ago. He said that he was at the prime of his career, at peak and won at the Hell in the Cell. Rhodes said that he would have loved to utilize this momentum at the Money in the Bank event.

Rhodes went on to say that he is trying to follow the nine month rehab period and went on to describe this year’s MITB Ladder match participants. He said that this year has one of the most talented groupings in the history of the match with Drew McIntyre and Sheamus possessing Harley race level toughness, Omos though he’s inexperienced doesn’t even need a ladder and that Sami Zayn is known to have very high level of IQ in the ring.

Cody praised his rival Seth Rollins and said that he is responsible for one of the most successful cash ins in the history of the company. He continued that if Seth Rollins grabs the briefcase and becomes the undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Then he would be the first to congratulate him. This interaction with Rhodes on RAW has sparked a speculation that Rollins would win the Undisputed WWE Championship and face Cody Rhodes in future when the latter returns from injury.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Seth Rollins is not only the apparent favorite to grab the briefcase, but also the one to successfully cash it in as he had done in 2015. Rollins being the Undisputed Universal Champion will pave the way for him and Rhodes to put on a major show when the latter returns.

”Rollins is the favorite of odds makers because of the Cody Rhodes promo which teased the idea of Rollins winning, cashing in, and Rhodes chasing him for the title,” stated Meltzer.

The MITB Live Event is scheduled to happen on this Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada.
