This year has been going down as one of the best years in professional wrestling. The Rock made his electrifying return to SmackDown a couple of weeks ago. He has been generating buzz ever since. Recently, WWE Superstar Grayson Waller took a shot at the People’s Champ, accusing him of avoiding a face-off.
On WWE’s The Bump show, the Aussie Icon made a audacious claim that The Rock didn’t want to face him backstage on SmackDown. He said, “When he went backstage, he went off running. The Rock didn’t want to see Grayson Waller.” He claimed that The Rock is avoiding the anticipated face-off with him.
It is a known fact that Grayson Waller never steps away from taking shots at WWE legends. He has been having a war of words over the internet with Dwayne The Rock Johnson for a long time. As per some rumors, The Rock will be involved in a segment with the Aussie Icon next year at the Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia.
The Hollywood star made a one-time appearance on SmackDown. He teased his involvement at WrestleMania next year. As for Grayson Waller, he has been a top heel in WWE currently. He has been constantly taking jabs at The Rock over the internet. It will be interesting to see whether the two ever cross paths in WWE.
Wrestling in a WrestleMania match is not The Rock’s call
The Rock hasn’t wrestled a proper singles match in over a decade. The last time he competed in a proper wrestling match was against John Cena at WrestleMania 29. Recently, a report suggested that WrestleMania matches are not The Rock’s call to make due to his busy schedule and prior commitments to movie houses.
Sports Illustrated reported that multiple sources close to WWE say “the decision about WrestleMania will not be The Rock’s to make, nor is the main event even a topic of substance.” Barrasso added that “there are currently no plans for this to happen.” According to the reports, The Rock’s status from WrestleMania 40 is up in the air.
WWE is reportedly not considering The Great One for The Showcase of the Immortals next year as his status is unclear. It is going to be interesting to see Dwayne Johnson’s next appearance in WWE. As of now, he will be involved in his movies and TV shows at the end of the SAG-AFTRA.
