Hulk Hogan’s contributions towards pro-wrestling are incomparable. He revolutionized the culture of this business around all parts of America, back in late 80s and 90s. Despite being a true ambassador of this industry, there’s only one gripe left for the Hulkster. That being said, the man who runs Hulkamania never got to have a proper farewell to his quintessential in-ring career.
His last match came during his run with TNA (now Impact Wrestling), in February 2013. Due to continued struggles with his physical condition, Hogan decided not to step back in that squared circle again. However, years later in 2023, the Thunder Lips is feeling great about his physical well-being and continues to train harder. So being said, he even got asked by Shane McMahon few months ago whether he’s got one more match in him.
The above discussion happened during the latest edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. The Combat Sports journalist conducted a brilliant interview churning out multiple stories, courtesy of Hulk Hogan. Inquiring about Hogan’s future in pro-wrestling as a competitor, Mr. America never turned down the idea. Instead, he seems quite optimistic about a retirement match of his own.
He also revealed why he returned to face The Rock at WrestleMania 18. The main reason behind that generational clash was not the People’s Champ. According to Hulk, he always wanted to wrestle Steve Austin. To potentially oil his machinery before that assumed bout with The Texas Rattlesnake, Hogan agreed to square off against Rock. “The reason I went back to wrestle The Rock (in 2002) was to get in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Because me as a bad guy, I could have tore the place down with him…if I had one guy to get in there it would be him,” said Hogan.

When did Hulk Hogan last appeared on WWE television?

Back in January this year, WWE ran a 30th Anniversary special edition of Monday Night Raw. None other than Hulk Hogan kicked-off the festivities for the grand occasion. He cut a typical ‘Hulk Hogan promo’, hyping the Philadelphia crowd for the rest of the night, with a non-supportive microphone.
Apart from this, he’s signed under a legends deal with WWE. Whenever there’s a landmark feat in the company, they call the 69-year-old to pop the ratings. In the aforementioned interview with Helwani, the Hall of Famer revealed that Shane McMahon pitched multiple ideas for his in-ring return.
Had he agreed to one of those, he’d have found himself competing at this year’s WrestleMania in Los Angeles. However, that never came to fruition as Hogan felt the need to get his shape 100% ready for that thing. For now, the conversation is paused. But, as said during the podcast, he’ll communicate with McMahon after few months to discuss about that one final ride.
