The wrestling world was in for a major shock last night following the Stamford-based promotion’s recent move. Just three days after the staff layoffs following the formation of TKO Group Holdings, WWE announced extensive talent cuts. WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler was one of the many people the company released.

Immediately after the news broke out, many wrestlers and fans expressed their gratitude towards Ziggler. 16-time World Champion John Cena also paid his respect to the former World Champion. He took to his social media and wrote, “One thousand five hundred and fifty four matches. @HEELZiggler#Respect.”

In his tweet, John Cena remarked about the number of matches Dolph Ziggler had wrestled in his nearly two-decade-long WWE career. He showed his respect for the veteran, as the two had a long history in the company. Furthermore, Ziggler is a top-three talent with the highest TV matches in WWE. The Showoff joined the company back in 2004 with a developmental deal.

John Cena likely to team up with AJ Styles against The Bloodline at WWE Fastlane

Tension arose between the 16-time World Champion and The Bloodline after Jimmy Uso interrupted John Cena on the September 1 edition of SmackDown. On the same night, AJ Styles confronted the former in a backstage segment.

Last week, the Phenomenal One came to the aid of the 46-year-old after the latter was at the wrong end of The Bloodline’s beatdown. The duo also battled with Jimmy and Solo in a dark match following SmackDown. Cena’s recent schedule with WWE is up until October 27. Therefore, there is a high chance that he will feature in Fastlane.
