John Cena shares the latest update on his upcoming project

For some years now, John Cena has not been a full-time wrestler in the WWE. The reason for Cena’s absence from the wrestling scene is his success in Hollywood. John Cena has been acting in movies in the past as well; fans might remember his movie “The Marine” back in 2006. However, he didn’t find success in Hollywood after being featured in many movies until 2021. In 2021, he played the character of “Peacemaker” in the movie The Suicide Squad. Cena’s character in the movie was well received by audiences.

In a recent tweet, John Cena shared an update on the upcoming Hollywood project he is going to work on. Cena is going to work with Amazon Studios on the upcoming movie “Ricky Stanicky.” The upcoming R-rated comedy movie by Peter Farrelly has been acquired by Prime Video. The movie has a great star cast, featuring Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler, and John Cena. Cena expressed his excitement about bringing the imaginary characters to life.

The filming of the movie is set to begin next month in Melbourne, Australia. Looking at Cena’s excitement, fans must also be excited to see him in another movie following the success of his acting career. John Cena last appeared in the R-rated series “Peacemaker” on HBO Max last year. It was a spin-off series based on the character played by John Cena in the film The Suicide Squad. The series was well received by fans and critics and turned out to be one of the best series of 2022.

Status of John Cena for WrestleMania 39

John Cena was rumored to face Austin Theory at last year’s SummerSlam PPV. However, that was not the case, as the match didn’t take place. Later on his podcast last year, Logan Paul asked Triple H to book a match between him and Cena for WrestleMania. The rumors and reports started circulating, and WWE reportedly started to plan the WrestleMania match between Cena and Logan. However, the match reportedly got canceled due to Cena’s busy schedule and not having enough time for practice.

Following the cancellation of the rumored match with Logan Paul, John Cena was rumored to face Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. However, the match seems unlikely to happen as filming for Cena’s new movie will begin next month. Due to his busy schedule, Cena will not be able to appear on TV for the build-up of his match against Theory.

Last year, at the final SmackDown of 2022, John Cena marked his last appearance on WWE TV until now. He teamed up with Kevin Owens in a tag team match against The Bloodline, in which Cena and Owens picked up the win. John Cena was also featured on the cover of the upcoming WWE 2K22 video game, which increased the likelihood of his return. As of now, fans might see Cena in a non-wrestling role at WrestleMania this year.
