The Rock and John Cena turned back the clock by appearing together for the first time in WWE after almost six years.

Dwayne Johnson made a stupendous return to the WWE on last night’s SmackDown. The Great One kicked off the night by mocking Austin Theory and delivering The People’s Elbow. However, he would appear in a backstage segment, which may have been the highlight of the show. The Rock came face-to-face with John Cena in a short but wholesome interaction.

“I see you trying to smile,” hilariously said The Rock. “Welcome home!” replied the Cenation Leader before sharing a warm embrace with one of his greatest rivals. As expected, the WWE Universe was ecstatic to see the two future Hall of Famers exchange those words. No one would have expected to see the two icons share a moment together in WWE.

The history between John Cena and The Rock has been well documented. After all, they headlined WrestleMania in consecutive years. Moreover, the in-ring promos and segments always drew the attention of the audience. In fact, there was a point during their feud where the Franchise Player and The Brahma Bull had real-life animosity. However, they later squashed their beef and gained mutual respect for one another.

The last time John Cena and The Rock shared a ring was at WrestleMania 32, fighting off an attack against The Wyatt Family. Needless to say, the episode of SmackDown turned out to be one of the most memorable shows of all time. It will be interesting to see if the People’s Champion sticks around longer in the WWE.

John Cena reunites with another former rival, AJ Styles

The most recent edition of SmackDown ended with The Grayson Waller Effect with special guest John Cena. Before the legend could speak, he was interrupted by Jimmy Uso. Subsequently, the latter was joined by his brother, Solo Sikoa, who initiated an attack on Cena.

As a result, AJ Styles came out to save his former rival and even the odds. Moreover, the episode ended with the veteran pair standing tall in the ring. Interestingly, The Phenomenal One had one of the biggest rivalries of his career with the sixteen-time World Champion.

Therefore, the duo’s reuniting to join forces certainly captivated the WWE Universe. Furthermore, John Cena will seemingly be helping Styles against The Bloodline for the next few weeks as well. Earlier on the night, Jimmy cost the O.C. leader in his match against Finn Balor as well.
