Recently, controversy has surrounded WWE due to a sexual assault and trafficking lawsuit targeting its founder, Vince McMahon. The allegations not only implicate McMahon but also involve his right-hand man, John Laurinaitis, in the case filed by plaintiff, Janel Grant. These accusations cast a dark cloud over the wrestling entertainment company. As a result, it has prompted serious concerns about the conduct of its top executives.

In a statement to VICE News, John Laurinaitis’ lawyer, Edward Brennan, seemingly affirmed key allegations while contesting Laurinaitis’ depicted role in the sex trafficking lawsuit. Brennan asserted that his client is a victim, akin to the plaintiff, Janel Grant, a former WWE employee.

Emphasizing Laurinaitis’ denial of the allegations, Brennan committed to robustly defending the charges in court rather than through media channels. He stressed Laurinaitis’ role as a victim, challenging any characterization of him as a predator and expressing confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail.

In response to the accusations, Vince McMahon has resigned from the TKO board. Cody Rhodes addressed the issue during the Royal Rumble press conference. The Bella Twins issued a public statement. Meanwhile, Ronda Rousey raised concerns, stating that Vince still holds influence in WWE even after his resignation.

Janel Grant’s lawyer says Vince McMahon’s resignation is not enough

In a recent interview with NewsNation, Janel Grant’s lawyer, Ann Callis, emphasized that Vince McMahon’s resignation is not sufficient to address the issues at hand. According to Callis, the focus should extend beyond McMahon’s departure and tackle the broader cultural problems within WWE.

Grant, the plaintiff in the lawsuit, seeks to be a catalyst for change, aiming to shed light on what she perceives as a pervasive culture of corruption within the wrestling organization. Callis revealed that Grant’s motivation extends beyond personal justice; she wants to speak out on behalf of potential other victims and contribute to eradicating the alleged culture of corruption deeply embedded within WWE.

It’s been a long process, and she (Grant) wants to speak out for any other victims and eradicate this culture of corruption that has permeated every cell of the WWE.

The lawyer disclosed that their office has been inundated with individuals eager to come forward, either as witnesses to the purported culture of corruption or as potential victims. Grant’s primary goal is to instigate change within the wrestling industry, encouraging others to share their experiences and collectively work towards a cultural shift within WWE.
