“He’s the standard-bearer,” Johnny Gargano hails 4-time World Champion as his benchmark in WWE
Well, it seems like Johnny Wrestling found his perfect soulmate in the form of Seth Rollins last night at the Elimination Chamber. Both men entered that sadistic structure and eventually picked up the steam.

Last night in Montreal produced magic for WWE in so many ways. One of the major highlights was the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, in which Johnny Gargano finally made his inevitable mark. It’s been over 6 months since the former NXT Champion arrived on the scenes on main-roster. However, it can be counted as an irony as to why Johnny Wrestling took over 180 days to get his first major championship opportunity.
Coming onto the match, Austin Theory was successful in retaining his United States Title, as a result of Logan Paul hijacking the chamber. The Maverick shattered Seth Rollins with a Buckshot Lariat followed by a curb stomp of his own. This paved the way for Theory to escape The Visionary and protect his gold. But, before this happened, Seth Rollins was the one who started off the match against Johnny Gargano.
While the two were unable to finish their job for the night, they gave every reason to the WWE Universe to get behind them. In all seriousness, it was probably the most important date of Gargano’s so far main-roster journey. He needed to explode in Quebec, and that’s exactly what he did. Despite giving their all, neither men emerged victorious, but it seems like Johnny Wrestling really admires Seth Rollins.
In a post-match interview with Megan Morant, Candice LeRae’s husband described his unreal experience from the Chamber match. Having a special mention for The Architect, Gargano termed him as the Bar and standard-bearer, which he plans to replicate one day.
“Tonight was just about showing the world that I can hang in there with five of the absolute best. I started that match with Seth Freakin’ Rollins. You can say whatever you want about that man. He is the bar right now. He is the standard-bearer. He’s where I wanna get to. I stood in there face to face with that man and I hung in there. I stood my ground and I lasted and I fought. I endured and I survived, but it wasn’t good enough.”
What exactly happened between Johnny Gargano and Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber?
Two of the most naturally gifted athletes got a vociferous welcome from the Montreal crowd. Once they got their nerves settled, Rollins & Gargano traded unimaginable blows. During various parts of the match, these two men defied textbook wrestling to produce one heck of a matchup. In an unbelievable spot, they perched on the top of chamber pod, with Johnny Wrestling countering a jarring Power-bomb into a Hurricanrana over everyone standing below.
This was one of the many beautiful combinations these superhumans were a part of. At the end, it was Damian Priest who finally stopped a breakout performance from The Rebel Heart. While on the other hand, Rollins made it to the last, before Logan Paul spoiled his night, as mentioned above.
