Kurt Angle is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. He has had many highly acclaimed feuds with numerous opponents during his time in the company. One of his popular opponents was Brock Lesnar, as the two famously wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 19 for the WWE Championship. Both Angle and Lesnar come from similar backgrounds and, therefore, worked well with each other.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Kurt Angle talked about his close friend and Brock Lesnar’s arch rival during his time in UFC, Daniel Cormier. When asked how would Cormier have done in WWE instead of going to UFC, Angle had an interesting answer. He said, “I think he would’ve been entertaining and I think his wrestling would have been incredible. I think Daniel would’ve had a stellar career [in WWE], probably equal to mine, I believe.”

Daniel Cormier has been a fan of professional wrestling since his childhood and continues to be one to this day. Therefore, when it came to choosing between MMA-style fighting and wrestling, Cormier came to Angle for advice. This is when Angle told him to try the UFC first, as he could always come to the WWE whenever he felt like it.

The 44-year-old former UFC Champion did make a few appearances in WWE but never wrestled in a match. His most recent appearance came when he was the guest referee for a fight pit match between Riddle and Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules. Fans would have loved to see DC in a WWE ring, as his rivalry with Lesnar could have been revisited from their UFC days.

TNA was the first promotion to go head-on against WWE after the demise of WCW as a legitimate competitor. They could not stand against the Vince McMahon-owned company. But it gave fans hope to get a second company that could provide wrestling on a weekly basis. Former WWE Champion Kurt Angle was one of the biggest signings of the promotion in its initial years.

Therefore, while talking to Chris Van Vliet recently, Angle answered the question of what, according to him, was the heyday for TNA. To this, Angle answered that TNA signing Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sting, Booker T, and legends of that caliber in the span of less than two years was their peak. He believed that made them a legit promotion, as casual fans would also tune in to see their favorite wrestlers on the promotion.

Angle gained huge popularity during his time in TNA, winning their heavyweight title on multiple occasions. His matches with AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Sting were considered to be among the greatest matches of the careers of the men involved.
