LA Knight believes his comparison with Dwayne Johnson and Steve Austin is the same as Kobe Bryant’s comparison to Michael Jordan

LA Knight has emerged as one of the most prominent names in WWE programming. He has been getting massive support from fans due to his exceptional mic skills and charisma. In his latest interview, Knight finally talked about the comparisons that are being made with Dwayne Johnson and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Before debuting on NXT in 2021, LA Knight, a.k.a. Shaun Ricker made a name for himself on the independent circuit. Moreover, Knight made numerous appearances in WWE before becoming a huge sensation. He wrestled in dark matches, appeared as extras, and played multiple roles as a rising star. In January 2022, the 40-year-old appeared on the main roster as Max Dupri, a fashion genius who formed a group called Maximum Male Models. However, he would soon return to his NXT persona.
While talking on Cheap Heat podcast, LA Knight finally spoke about his comparisons being made with legends like The Rock and Steve Austin. He said that he likes the comparison, but plans on overtaking it. The 40-year-old wants to become a bigger star than Rock and Austin.
Knight added, “At the same time, are there similarities? Sure there are you. There is Kobe (Bryant) to (Michael) Jordan, those kinds of comparisons. If you want to make me the Kobe to their Jordan, I’ll take it.”
He also revealed his favorites and inspirations in the industry. LA Knight said that he cannot name just one inspiration or role model behind his wrestling career. He said Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin were equally important to him while growing up.

LA Knight gets a bigger fans reaction than Rey Mysterio
LA Knight is one of the most loved superstars in WWE currently. He has been consistently popular with the fans at every place that WWE goes. His catchphrase has also become one of the most popular catchphrases in recent years. The effect was also clearly evident when Knight wrestled WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
It was previously announced that LA Knight would take on Santos Escobar and Butch in a triple-threat match. All three men were supposed to face each other on SmackDown, but the plans were changed at the last minute. Instead, Knight wrestled Rey Mysterio in a singles match. To the surprise of everyone, when the match began, Knight got a bigger reaction than the luchador.
The surprising factor is that Rey has been a beloved babyface in WWE for over two decades. Anyone other than Mysterio getting a bigger reaction from the crowd is an unusual phenomenon. Fans have been reacting online to the craze surrounding Knight and his popularity when he faced off against Rey Mysterio.
