Though Vince McMahon‘s ejection from WWE’s creative process has imbued a breath of fresh air into the product, it did hurt certain names. The 78-year-old used to have a way of putting several superstars quite differently, especially those whom he had a penchant for. One such name is Lacey Evans. She enjoyed healthy screentime in WWE until Vinnie Mac was calling the shots; however, her appearances became paltry once the regime turned a new leaf.

As a result, the 33-year-old asked for her WWE release, and it was granted once her contract expired in August. She’s now claiming that she never had a passion for WWE. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Evans affirmed that although she enjoyed watching her fellow superstars thrive, she didn’t have a blast on a personal note. Lacey admitted walking down that aisle with a smile on her face, but at the end of the day, the former US Army Marine manifested going home as soon as she could.

I did WWE for seven years and it was never my passion. It was incredible to see my fellow sports entertainers, that is their passion, but I just knew that, you know, I went out there and did the best that I could. I did my job but I always looked forward to coming home.

In an interview with Mandy Rose, Lacey Evans revealed that she almost got into backstage scuffles due to her mouth. As a result, the Sassy Southern Bell allegedly had some backstage heat in WWE. Earlier on in her career on the main roster, she received a big-time feud with Becky Lynch. Despite ganging up on The Man alongside Charlotte Flair, Evans couldn’t win her first major title in the company.

WWE dropped major plans for Lacey Evans following her pregnancy

Back in 2021, during the ThunderDome Era, Lacey Evans began pairing with WWE HOF’er Ric Flair. The Nature Boy started getting comfortable with The Sassy Southern Bell and taught her numerous nuances of wrestling. At the time, Evans was butting heads with Ric’s daughter, Charlotte Flair.

At that juncture, a report stated that WWE penciled Evans in for a Royal Rumble match win. And that would’ve entitled her to compete for the women’s title at WrestleMania 37. Shortly after the said report came out, Lacey Evans was written off television due to her real-life pregnancy.

The fans thought that the aforementioned plans were outright shams and took them with a grain of salt. However, during the same interview as above, Evans told Van Vliet that it was indeed the plan to have her dethrone Charlotte at the Biggest Stage of Them All.
