Currently standing at over 400k dislikes on YouTube, Cody Rhodes‘ WrestleMania decision, downtrodded by Dwayne Johnson, is well and truly the most disliked WWE video of all time. Almost the entire wrestling fanbase is irate and calling for the company to pivot. United States Champion Logan Paul has also voiced his opinion, and he’s standing by Cody Rhodes.
The Maverick took to his social media accounts to extend his support for The American Nightmare. No one’s ready to accept the late change in plans WWE made to let Dwayne Johnson walk over Cody Rhodes and get to that main event against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. In fact, there’s more to it. The Great One called the audible to step in as if he wanted to save WrestleMania following the withdrawals of CM Punk and Brock Lesnar.
Moreover, the decision to snub Cody was not to politicize him but one taken with hope that it would be the best way to move forward from a business standpoint. WWE will be holding a WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event this Thursday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. They’re expected to officially announce the marquee dream match between Roman Reigns and The Rock for WrestleMania.

As for Cody, there are some backup plans in place. Per PWInsider, those in WWE were openly talking about the possibility of Rhodes winning the World Heavyweight title. And then he could go on to challenge the winner of Rock/Reigns at SummerSlam to potentially unify the titles. Right now, Cody Rhodes is expected to challenge Seth Rollins for the gold at WrestleMania this year.
How people in WWE have reacted to Dwayne Johnson’s arrival?
The sentiments of those working in various departments of WWE are something that would please Cody Rhodes fans. Fightful Select reached out to over three dozen WWE contacts and gathered everything they could. Per the outlet, no one in the company played Devil’s Advocate for the change in plans.
Most understood the business implications of deciding to go with The Rock vs. Roman Reigns but said it would hurt WWE business in the long run. A source even concurred that Dwayne Johnson replacing Cody Rhodes was something that would’ve made more sense under the previous regime.
Further, it was relayed that there is hope from people in WWE that the higher-ups will consider the hostile reaction they’ve gotten from the fans and pivot back to Cody Rhodes’ originally planned match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
