“Go Big or Go Home”: Massive WWE events in the works for 2023

WWE is gearing up for Wrestlemania Backlash

WWE events are getting bigger and better over the years. The company consistently tries to up the scale and the grandeur of the events. In fact, there was a point, where over a 100 thousand fans attended the biggest WWE event of the year – Wrestlemania. But there even came a time, when the company had to stop fans from attending the events!

This change was forced due to the Covid-19 pandemic and WWE started airing all their shows from the empty WWE Thunderdome. But soon things got better – and WWE returned to premium live events. They made up for a cut-down version of Wrestlemania with a massive Summerslam event.

As things return to normalcy, WWE has already resumed their regular touring and will even be going to UK this week. In fact, in 2022 WWE has a total of 8 stadium events and we are yet to witness Money In The Bank, Summerslam, UK and a Saudi Arabia event. But WWE isn’t satisfied with just 8 events, hence they plan to go bigger in 2023.

As per the latest reports from Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, WWE events are all set to get bigger in 2023. It is WWE President Nick Khan’s plan to increase the number of stadium shows WWE does annually. The idea behind this change, as mentioned by Zarian, is to increase the revenue as well as the excitement for the events.

“The scalability of large stadiums is very beneficial when it comes to having live attendance over 15k. The event doesn’t have to be a sell-out of 50k+ but now you have room to do 20-35k shows more often leading to much higher revenue & higher level of excitement for the event” – mentioned Zarian.

Roman Reigns dominates the WWE events

Irrespective of the WWE events – there is one thing quite certain about every single one of them. This happens to be the dominance of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He has been dominating every single premium event since he became the Universal Champion at Payback 2020.

In a title reign that spans over 600 days, the Tribal Chief has defeated the likes of Brock Lesnar, John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Edge, among others. Things have come to a point where there are barely any Superstars left for the Head of The Table to defend his title against!
