For so many reasons, this year’s Backlash was Zelina Vega’s WrestleMania moment. Obviously the event was held at her hone town of San Juan in Puerto Rico. So being said, the longtime homecoming of Vega bloomed flowers all around. She even received a special entrance for the premium-live-event, with a Puerto Rican flag attached to her body. The electric crowd in PR gave a well-deserved ovation to the female LWO member, ultimately causing her to break in tears.
Undoubtedly, this was the best moment in her WWE career till date. Following that phase of euphoria, she faced Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Title. Prior to the match on the blue brand, Rey Mysterio had a pep-talk with her. The Master of 619 asked Vega to believe in herself and shock the world. But, at the end, it was too much for a relatively short and physically outmatched Vega in front of Rhea Ripley.
Although Zelina lost the match, she won thousands of hearts. Praising the brilliant representation Zelina Vega got at Backlash, former Divas Champion Melina, recently opined on the same. The A-list Diva was in awe of that entire thing, she even recalled how that moment meant so much more for Vega, since her father passed away. Also, The Gorgeous Grapple showered love for Vega’s unfathomable transformation in wrestling.
“It was beautiful to see the flag and everything that she did and her tears. It’s as if her father is still with her. By doing that, it’s like finally he gets to see it. Everybody gets to see it.” Seeing how far Andrade’s former manager has come, “To see her from who she was then and how far she’s come now, who she is and what she’s doing, to be at a pay-per-view doing something like that, I am so proud of her,” said Melina in a chat with MuscleManMalcolm.

What’s next for Zelina Vega in WWE?
Well, it seems like that honeymoon period for Vega is over, at least for now. She’s still growing strong as a member of the LWO, however, her singles push might be derailed for the time being. This past week on SmackDown, she lost against Asuka in a singles match. Just to note, Vega wore the exact same gear she did at Backlash.
The future plans of the Latino World Order will determine what Zelina would do next. Well, she’ll definitely benefit working under a great mentor like Rey Mysterio. Just that, it’s uncertain that what exactly the near future lies for the 32-year-old superstar. In the past, she’s been a part of some off-season feuds.
She’s a former Women’s Tag-Team Champion with Carmella. Having a naturally athletic frame, Vega possesses the ability to wrestle some great matches. At times, she’s proved her part. Also, her trash talking abilities are promising as well. If WWE decides to eventually make her a future Women’s Champion, she’s an upper level candidate for that category.
