Melina has been one of the most talented female wrestlers of all time, with WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart calling her as “One of the greatest wrestlers of all time”. Melina exuded Charisma in the ring and was known for her over the top flexibility and for having one of the best in ring maneuvers in women’s division. Melina is the first women to have won the women’s Championship as well as the Divas Championship in her career.

Melina was also one of the pivotal figures of the Divas Era and her match against Michelle McCool for the Women’s Championship at the Night of Champions 2009 is deemed to be one of the best Divas matches of the year 2009 as well as of the Divas Era. Melina has won the Women’s Championship three times in her career and has won the Divas Championship two times in her career.

Melina won the Divas Championship when she defeated Jillian Hall on RAW in 2009. Hall lost the Championship within a day and Melina went on to carry the championship for 84 days until she vacated it due to an injury. She again won the WWE Divas Championship in 2010, when she defeated Alicia Fox at SummerSlam 2010. This was her last reign and she lost the title in 35 days to Michelle McCool at the Night of the Champions 2010.

During a recent interview with Tara Meyer of MCW Backstage Pass, Melina spoke about the Divas Era and how she dislikes the fact that people these days associate it with “Model search”. She claims that every woman who held the Divas Championship gave it her all and did everything in her power to make the Divas period extraordinary and unforgettable. She made a comparison between the Divas hunt and WWE’s reality series Tough Enough.

“It’s a weird thing because diva gets tied up with the model search, and that’s not it. That’s the hard part where the term ‘diva’ is thought of as model days, and it wasn’t even that. Well, kind of. But regardless, each woman who held that title did their best, gave it their all. Maybe blame the divas search, but you can’t blame them for getting an opportunity. It’s like like Tough Enough. You can’t blame the people who did Tough Enough, and that’s what the Divas Search was”.

Melina was released from the WWE in 2011 and has since then made sporadic appearances in the company, with the recent one being at this year’s Royal Rumble, where she opened the Royal Rumble but was eliminated by the first entrant in the match, Sasha Banks.
