Michin has gotten a crack at Iyo Sky's title and it might be time for her to shine.

WWE has already fastened up their seat belts to commence 2024 on a high. A full week of back-to-back programming will meet its Judgment Day on January 5 in Vancouver. The show is being dubbed SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution and the company has already loaded up the card, with Iyo Sky‘s title defense being a major selling point. She’s slated to defend her title against “Michin” Mia Yim.

Last night on SmackDown, The Damage CTRL went up against Bianca Belair, Michin, Zelina Vega, and Shotzi in a Holiday Havoc 8-woman tag team match. Though the bout in itself had its moments, the ending was quite startling. Pulling out a leg drop from the top rope, Mia Yim drove Iyo Sky through a table and pinned her. It was considered a major upset as Sky hadn’t lost a match via pinfall ever since becoming the Women’s Champion at SummerSlam.

Out of everyone she has faced during her title reign, having Mia Yim pin The Genius of the Sky was a brave booking decision. It’s not because Iyo couldn’t be grounded on the mat for that three count; however, for Mia Yim, who’s not even competing regularly on television, getting that honor might be a tad odd. Nonetheless, these women go way back in history.

They’ve fought each other on numerous occasions during their time in NXT. Not only that, Iyo and Michin had a match on Raw this year in January as well. Moreover, the 34-year-old is a fresh opponent for Iyo as far as her title contenders are concerned. They might have a banger in themselves when they meet at the Rogers Arena in Canada next month.

Iyo Sky might face an expected name at WrestleMania 40

It would be safe to assume that Iyo Sky might enter WrestleMania 40 as the Women’s Champion. Though it’s very plausible that her dream run gets halted on the road to WWE’s biggest show of the year, Triple H is seemingly planning a major swerve that could feel incomplete without Iyo holding that gold.

A few weeks ago on SmackDown, Bayley declared herself for the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match. And the fans are already inclined towards a future program between Iyo Sky and Bayley. Though The Role Model has vowed to come after Rhea Ripley‘s title if she wins the Rumble match next month, it may not happen at all.

Bayley’s bumpy camaraderie with The Damage CTRL stems from the fact that Iyo Sky has looked down on her of late. It may all come to fruition in a major betrayal on either side. And for those who don’t know, Bayley recently signed a multi-year deal with WWE. It may finally propel a major push for her.
