WWE Hall of Famer wants Roman Reigns as a Champion until his rumored match against The Rock at WrestleMania 39

Roman Reigns as Universal Champion
Roman Reigns is set to defend his Undisputed Universal Championship at the Clash at the Castle against Drew McIntyre. Reigns has been defending the championship since 2020 and has reached a milestone recently by holding the championship over 700 days. This year Roman Reigns defended the championship against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble and against Goldberg at the Elimination Chamber. Thereafter he defended the belt against Brock Lesnar at the WrestleMania 38 in a winner takes all match, and that was the moment the Tribal chief became a double champion.
The most recent Roman Reigns defended the championship was at SummerSlam against Brock Lesnar in a last man standing match. The match received quite praise from the WWE Universe, with the two superstars being lauded for the creativity and uniqueness they brought in the match. According to the reports, Reigns is set to lose the title against Drew McIntyre at the event. WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley believes that Roman Reigns should retain the titles until he faces Dwayne The Rock Johnson at WrestleMania 39, provided that The Rock gets time from his hectic schedule for a match at WrestleMania.
Mick said that the Rock is the busiest man in the show business and with WrestleMania being sold out now, everyone would love to see The Rock Vs Roman Reigns at the event. Mick Foley said that the WWE has a lot of confidence in Roman Reigns and that he loves the run that Reigns has had until now. Foley claims he wouldn’t want Roman to lose the title and that if The Rock and Reigns were to face off, he would want to see Roman retain the title up to the Flagship event.
“Shows they have a lot of confidence in Roman. I like the run. I would not like, just personally, if there is a chance, we see Rock and Roman at WrestleMania for the title; that title has got to stay in the Bloodline.”
Possible plans for Roman Reigns if he loses the championship
According to Dave Meltzer, most them have figured that the WWE wants Roman Reigns as a Champion because they want to keep him a champion until WrestleMania 39, when he fights with the Rock. Meltzer said that if Drew wins then there might be a possibility that Roman might win the titles back before WrestleMania 39 and thereby could have the belt with him until his rumored match with The Rock.
Meltzer also stated that the advantage with McIntyre is obvious as he could be a full-time performer as a champion and would appear on TV once or twice a week. He stated that McIntyre would be on every PPV and house show circuit and if the WWE wants to maximize the ratings, a full time Champion will definitely help.
