Paul Wight, aka Big Show, is one of the biggest names in pro wrestling, figuratively and literally. The 7-foot giant is currently contracted to AEW, where he is involved primarily in broadcasting. He has wrestled a few matches in the promotion as well, the most prominent being his debut, where he defeated QT Marshall at All Out 2021.

Recently, pro wrestler and nightmare factory member Diamond Sheik posted a video with the NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal on Twitter. In that video, Shaq has issued a challenge to Paul Wight for a tag team match. He said, “I want to deliver two messages. Number one, nobody messes with The Diamond Sheik, and two, to present this new Diamond Championship belt. Cody, whoever else wants it, Big Show… Tell you what, Diamond Sheik and Shaq vs. Big Show and whoever else you want. Let’s go, AEW.”

The feud between the basketball legend and Big show has been brewing for more than a decade. The match was first teased back in 2009 on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Since then, the two titans did meet each other in the squared circle when both entered the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania 32.

The teases didn’t end in WWE though. Both the stars have kept the plates spinning through social media remarks against each other. Some teases have happened on AEW television as well. Both of them want to have a match at some point. Whether it comes to fruition or not remains to be seen.

Big Show made his last appearance in WWE on the January 4, 2021 episode of Monday Night Raw for a special “Legends Night” along with other WWE legends, including Ric Flair, Goldberg, and Hulk Hogan. His last match in WWE was in 2021 on Raw against Randy Orton in an unsanctioned match. In February 2021, Wight’s time in WWE came to an end as both parties couldn’t come to a deal for a new contract.

Paul Wight made his first appearance in AEW on the March 4, 2021 episode of Dynamite. The company had announced that the former world champion will be providing commentary alongside Tony Schiavone for AEW Dark: Elevation starting March 15th. Since then, Wight is majorly involved in backstage segments and broadcasting. Wight made his debut against QT Marshall at All Out 2021. This was his only match at an AEW PPV till now. His last match was at AEW Dark: Elevation against Austin Green in March 2022. While not being much active in the ring, he is a great presence backstage for a new promotion like AEW and its young wrestlers.
