Last week on NXT, Nikkita Lyons was part of an injury angle where she was attacked by an unknown assailant in the parking lot. This segment was to take Lyons off of TV as she has suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in real life. Last week, the NXT superstar took to Twitter to inform the fans about the seriousness of the injury, which received an outpouring of love from fans. Now, she has followed it up with another update.
After a successful surgery, Nikkita Lyons posted a photo of herself on the hospital bed on Twitter, showing her gratitude to everyone. She accompanied it with a tweet that read, “Surgery was a success ✨ Thank you deeply to the WWE Universe, my Lyon Pride for all the love and support you show. I’ll be back stronger than I’ve ever been. ?? #ReadyToPounce Also a big thank you to the wonderful surgeons, doctors and nurses.”
The wrestling world sent its best wishes to the NXT star, which included stars like Naomi, JD McDonagh, R-Truth, and others. This is not the first time that Nikkita Lyons has been sidelined because of a knee injury. In May 2022, she announced via Instagram that she suffered a sprained and partial tear in her MCL. Consequently, she was removed from the NXT women’s breakout tournament. The Lioness made her return only a month later, in June. However, a torn ACL is much more serious and could take a longer time to recover.

When will Nikkita Lyons return to NXT?
A torn ACL is the same injury that Seth Rollins suffered in 2015 that forced him to vacate the WWE Championship. It is much more serious, and Nikkita Lyons would miss months of action because of it. After a successful surgery, the return period is suspected to be between six and nine months for the NXT superstar.
Nikkita Lyons has been a consistently featured star in NXT. After wrestling for Women of Wrestling for a year, the Lioness made her WWE debut in 2021 on 205 Live. She eventually moved to NXT 2.0 and went undefeated in the developmental brand. After she recovered from her torn MCL, Lyons would return and form a tag team with Zoey Starks.
Starks and Lyons had a feud with the NXT women’s tag team champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. However, they failed to win the tag titles, which was a point of dispute between the two. After their breakup, the two had a match on NXT in December, which was won by Starks. Despite winning no titles in NXT, Nikkita Lyons has impressed everyone with her athletic abilities and versatile move set. The fans would await the eventual return of the Lioness after her recovery.
