R-Truth‘s latest appeasement tactic for The Judgment Day backfired this week on Raw. In the main event, the 52-year-old inadvertently cost Damian Priest in a highly physical contest against Drew McIntyre. During the closing moments, Truth approached Priest at ringside and tried to bestow stacks of money on Senior Money in the Bank as part of his cut.
However, in the heat of the moment, Priest vehemently expelled the former 24/7 Champion from the ring and ran into a Claymore Kick as he turned around. After the show went off-air, Truth tried to rally Priest as he raised his hand in front of the live crowd. The Judgment Day member didn’t seem exasperated at Ron Killings while heading back to the gorilla position.
Earlier on in the night, The Miz lost to Dominik Mysterio following Finn Balor and JD McDonagh‘s shenanigans. The New Orleans crowd was chanting for R-Truth to come out, but he didn’t. Recently, the veteran celebrated his 52nd birthday and showcased some of the greetings he received from his Judgment Day comrades. It needs to be said that despite losing on Raw, Damian Priest seems fine with R-Truth.
Over the past few weeks, Priest has been the lone admirer of R-Truth’s comedic prowess in his group. Though he promised Rhea Ripley that he’d take care of the former US Champion when the time is right, Truth appears to have grown on The Judgment Day’s powerhouse. It would be interesting to see where this story leads in the long run.
Damian Priest and Finn Balor to defend their title on Raw next week
Next week on Raw, Damian Priest and his partner-in-crime, Finn Balor, will put their Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles up for grabs. They’ll face the dynamic duo of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. In what would be their first major opportunity on the main roster, DIY could turn the tables on the champions.
Balor and Priest have held the men’s doubles gold since Payback last year. They have the opportunity to go into WrestleMania as champions. However, the Judgment Day pair needs to be wary of Gargano and Ciampa’s innovative offense when they work in tandem.
The fans are gunning for change in the tag team division, and the renaissance of DIY has certainly given them hope. Who knows, by this time next week, Damian Priest could have a Royal Rumble match victory by his side, as he has declared for the coveted bout this Saturday.
