Rey Mysterio has had a storied career. He took his rightful place in the Hall of Fame this year. Rey was a stark contrast to Vince McMahon’s idea of a WWE superstar. Through his amazing career, he managed to put Lucha Libre on the map. Making it easier for guys like Santos Escobar to make it in the company.
For a while now, Rey Mysterio has been entangled in a feud with his son Dominik Mysterio. The duo faced off at WrestleMania where Rey pulled off the victory via an assist from Bad Bunny.
Recently Rey was the guest on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive. He spoke about the situation with Dominik and how he’d like to conclude this rivalry. Rey said he was willing to put his mask on the line. For those who do not know the mask is considered sacred in the Lucha tradition, it’s a symbol of honor. Mysterio’s mask is often seen as a relic in the business.
“Maybe I put my mask on the line against his hair, which is some lucha culture. If I lose that, I take my mask off. If he loses, he shaves his hair off. That might be interesting,” said Rey.
Mysterio has been in a similar match before against CM Punk. He won that match and got to shave off Punk’s hair. When asked if Dominik would be open to the match, Rey replied, “He talks a lot of crap. Why not? Back it up.” The Ultimate Underdog did spend a while in WCW without the mask but throughout his career in WWE he has always had it on.
What’s Next for Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio?
Last week on RAW Damian Priest put Bad Bunny through the table with a vicious chokeslam. So it looks like fans could be seeing Bad Bunny team up with Rey Mysterio to take on Priest and Dominik at WrestleMania Backlash.
Dominik has shown some real character development since joining The Judgment Day. He has the skillset and now seems to be improving on the mic too. Rey has accomplished a lot in his career, and he’s already in the Hall of Fame and many thought he’d call it quits at Mania. Maybe it’s about time he passed on the torch.
