“This was freakin awesome,” Wrestling Twitter sets ablaze as Rhea Ripley conquers Charlotte Flair to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion
Mami does whatever she speaks. Following a highly physical encounter with Charlotte Flair tonight, Rhea Ripley has finally defeated the Queen to capture the SmackDown Women's Title.

After lasting just over a hour in this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match, Rhea Ripley won the entire thing. With that victory, she earned the right to challenge for either of the Women’s Championships at WrestleMania. Despite rumors stating otherwise, the Eradicator chose to renew her rivalry with none other than Charlotte Flair. Three years ago, the Queen put Mami in her place at WrestleMania 36. To avenge that painful loss, Ripley once again decided to battle Flair in Los Angeles this year.
Their match started with some sluggish and methodical pacing. Nonetheless, both women traded hellacious blows right from the opening bell. On multiple occasions, the maneuvers seemed like more physical than usual. As the match progressed, Mami grew confident and her shots became more thirsty. At one point, the Australian wrestler was about to put away the 14-time World Champion through Riptide. However, the champ pulled off an unimaginable counter DDT.
Charlotte Flair perched on the top rope to execute a moonsault on the challenger. However, Mami came prepared and she quickly hopped on champ’s level to drive Flair on the mat courtsey of an Inverted Superplex. Following that, both women went through some insanely precarious spots. Just when everyone thought that the match was going to end, Flair kicked-out of a Riptide.
Rhea then locked Charlotte in a Crucifix submission maneuver which the champ somehow survived. Coming to the conclusion, Rhea and Charlotte once again wanted to test the top rope. But, the Mami drove Queen’s face into the steel surmounted on turnbuckles. As soon as that happened, the 36-year old became lifeless and Ripley executed a Riptide from the highest point of the ring. Three seconds later, the WWE universe witnessed the crowning of a new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
