“Don’t even know who Muta is,” Ric Flair addresses his controversial WWE Hall of Fame speech for The Great Muta

Ric Flair and The Great Muta are two professional wrestlers who competed against each other in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Both Flair and Muta were two of the most talented and influential wrestlers of their era. To honor their legacy, WWE already inducted 16-time world champion, Ric Flair, into the Hall of Fame. While The Great Muta was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame this year. In fact, Ric Flair was the one who inducted Muta into the Hall of Fame 2023.
While Ric Flair respectfully inducted him, many people were not pleased with his discourse about the legendary Japanese wrestler. During his recent interview with WrestlingNews.co, The Nature Boy addressed the wrestling world criticizing his speech while inducting The Great Muta into the WWE Hall of Fame, class of 2023.
“I don’t know what they didn’t like about it. You have to remember that 99% of the people that attended that building don’t even know who Muta is. The wrestling people do, but I’m saying the audience. Anytime you compare someone to Ricky Steamboat and Shawn Michaels, I don’t see how they can complain about that because he was that good,” Ric stated.
The Nature Boy also disclosed that people in WWE were not glad that he mentioned Sting in the speech. However, he also mentioned that Sting is already in the WWE Hall of Fame. The 16-time World Champion also went on to reveal that he asked WWE to call Sting in order to induct The Great Muta into the Hall of Fame. Ric asked them to do so because The Icon has wrestled with Muta more than he has.

Ric Flair expresses his views regarding WrestleMania 39
Apart from addressing his Hall of Fame speech for The Great Muta, Ric Flair also shed light on the Showcase of the Immortals this year. He feels that a victory against someone like John Cena is a great opportunity to build off Austin Theory. The Nature Boy commended her daughter, Charlotte Flair‘s showdown against Rhea Ripley as well, calling it the best match of WrestleMania 39.
He also feels that the incredible battle between The Queen and The Eradicator or the SmackDown women’s title should’ve main evented Night 1 of Mania. Ric addressed the fact that a girl that won the Royal Rumble should traditionally headline the Show of Shows.
