This week on SmackDown, Sami Zayn will face Kevin Owens in a singles match. Zayn and Owen’s relationship has been a complex one, with both sides teaming up and feuding against each other over the years.
Sami Zayn, on the other hand, has been a devoted member of the Bloodline, as seen by his performance in the Survivor Series WarGames. Zayn, who was dubbed ‘Honorary Uce’ by Roman Reigns in September last year, was yet to acquire the trust of the other members, particularly Jey Uso.
At the Survivor Series War Games, Sami Zayn sold his soul to the Bloodline and demonstrated his commitment to the group. Many people have praised the superb narrative that went into Zayn’s character development as the Bloodline’s devoted comrade.
Zayn’s character was first viewed as unsuited for the group, but as the story progressed, he is now regarded as the group’s most integral part. Zayn’s lighthearted promos are well-liked by the WWE Universe, making him one of the main attractions of the Bloodline.
During a recent edition of To Be the Man Podcast, Ric Flair stated that, in the beginning, he hated the Honorary Uce’s character in the group. However, as time went on, he realized how entertaining and important he is to the bloodline.
“When I first saw Sami Zayn, I should have realized that was good. He got so much heat with me. I couldn’t stand his character. Now, I love him……I think he’s great. When I first looked at it, I thought this is such a serious faction.”

Kevin Owens discussed fighting Sami Zayn in the WWE during a recent backstage interview with Cathy Kelley. Zayn, according to the Prizefighter, is not a former friend, and he remembers wrestling every single match against him in the WWE. He stated that the Friday night SmackDown bout against him will be the 839th time he will be fighting the Honorary Uce.
“About Sami. Like I said, he’s not my former friend. But I also remember every single match I’ve had against Sami. This will be our 839th match, just in WWE. Not even talking about the 15 years before.”
The Prizefighter is set to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. Owens has previously faced Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. At Royal Rumble 2021, the two faced off in a last-man-standing match, which Owens lost.
The Tribal Chief blames Zayn for their loss to Kevin Owens and John Cena on the December 30th edition of SmackDown. Now to redeem himself, he will have to win against Owens on SmackDown at any cost. The Prizefighter seems to be dominant, and this week on RAW he defeated Baron Corbin in a singles match. Owens also beat the Usos and Solo Sikoa with a chair, forcing them out of the ring to be the last man standing.
