WWE Hall Of Famer thought Ric Flair might pass away in the ring

Ric Flair

Ric Flair might have crossed the 70-year mark, but his heart and spirit are way too young. He has served the company for an incredibly long period of time and still doesn’t miss an opportunity to do so today. Being so full of valor and determination, he also doesn’t back off from any face-off in the ring.

Ric Flair had his last match alongside Andrade El Idolo, his son-in-law, when they faced Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett back in July. While many suggested that Flair should not involve himself in such tedious physical work at his age, WWE Hall Of Famer Ricky Steamboat feared that Ric would pass away in the ring.

Before the tag team match was finalized, there were rumors that Ricky Steamboat would go one-on-one against the Nature Boy, but the plans were dropped. The true reason for this has now been revealed. Speaking to Bill Apter, Steamboat revealed that he feared that Flair would pass away in case the two stars met each other.

Ricky was okay with facing Ric in the ring before he knew that Flair had a pacemaker. He said, “I don’t think I wanna do this. I don’t want my legacy to be, you know, I was in a ring with when he happened to pass away or something went wrong” and backed off the plan.
