Former WWE legend, Virgil aka Michael Jones passed away at the age of 61.

The wrestling world went into utter sadness and shock after hearing that former WWE superstar, Virgil was no longer with them. He passed away at the age of 61. The reason for his death was not disclosed. The announcement was made on his official Instagram account.
WWE also shared an official post on X and extended condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. His dear friend and wrestling referee, Mark Charles III, stated that he passed away peacefully in the hospital. Virgil’s WWE tenure lasted 10 years and he also wrestled in WCW for four more years before calling it quits.
Virgil made a name for himself when he became the bodyguard for Ted Dibiase in 1987 and carried out all his operations. He always stayed in the corner of the Million Dollar Man and was part of some of the biggest storylines. The 61-year-old also used to wrestle Dibiase’s rivals as a challenge, as Dibiase would offer them a match if they beat him.
However, after taking a lot of humiliation from his boss, he finally turned on him at the Royal Rumble in 1991. Virgil hit Dibiase with his Million Dollar belt and became one of the most beloved and popular superstars in WWE at the time. The biggest win of his career came against Dibiase when he defeated him via countout at WrestleMania VII. The wrestling world will never forget Virgil for his contributions to WWE.

Yesterday, the wrestling world got the news that former WWE legend Virgil passed away peacefully in the hospital. Although the cause of death was not revealed, it was known that he was suffering from several health issues and also had stage one dementia. Not only fans, but the WWE superstars are also in shock and expressed their emotions through social media.

Matt Hardy took to X and shed the light that he was always so happy and kind to him and was sad to hear about his passing. Kayla Braxton stated that, although she didn’t know much about him, she always knew how much he contributed to the wrestling business.
Hurricane also shared a little anecdote about Virgil during the time he turned on Dibiase, he was one of the most popular superstars in the company. Overall, all the superstars were saddened by his passing and prayed for his loved ones.
