Recently, Cody Rhodes won back-to-back Royal Rumbles, and it looked like he was going to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. However, that was not the case, as World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins mocked Roman and persuaded Rhodes to fight him instead of the Tribal Chief.

That did not sit well with Roman and the Bloodline, as he came out and started insulting Rollins. The 38-year-old trolled his former best friend because of his fashion sense and also made fun of his injury. Reigns also called Rollins’ title the ‘Losers Bracket Title’ and said he has already beaten everybody.

On the latest episode of SmackDown, Rhodes was scheduled to choose the champion of his choice to challenge at WrestleMania. However, he refused to fight Reigns at the Show of Shows, and The Rock stepped up. SmackDown closed with both of the cousins staring each other in the eye, teasing their match at WrestleMania.

With Cody stepping down as Roman’s opponent and The Rock returning, the fans could witness two big matches. The Rock could potentially go one-on-one against his cousin Roman at WrestleMania 40, and Cody and Rollins could write another chapter in their storied rivalry for the World Heavyweight Championship. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the upcoming weeks.

On the latest episode of SmackDown, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes refused to fight Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. The Rock came out and had a staredown with his brother to close the show. This could set up the potential WrestleMania main event match between the cousins.

However, this is not the first time The Rock took someone’s place at WrestleMania and fought the champion. 11 years ago, The 51-year-old defeated CM Punk at the Royal Rumble PLE to become the WWE Champion. He then fought John Cena for the title at WrestleMania, ultimately taking Punk’s spot for the Show of Shows.

Some fans even say that history has repeated itself and The Rock again took the spot of someone deserving. The Best in the World even mentioned this in his promo battle vs. Cody and how the same thing happened to him. The Rock potentially facing Reigns at WrestleMania got a pretty negative response from the majority of fans. Only time will tell how all of this plays out.
