Roman Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble, last night. At first, both superstars made their divine entrance through the 50,000+ strong crowd in Alamodome. Just to note, Roman came out without The Usos and Solo Sikoa. Once the match started, both superstars quickly picked up the pace.

For the first quarter, The Tribal Chief exercised supreme control over Owens. However, the latter bounced back with a frog splash off apron, and then once again in the ring. Calling a little throwback, Reigns executed a sit-out powerbomb to his foe, availing a two count. In the first spear of the match, Owens escaped the catastrophe well in time, getting his shoulder up at 2.

At one point, KO even botched an improvised moonsault off ring ropes, recovering quickly though. Then, Owens accidentally ran into the match ref which probably cost him the Championship. Seizing upon the golden opportunity, Reigns went low to Kevin, barking at Sami Zayn to get him a steel chair. After a slight miscue, Owens hit stunner on Reigns, which wasn’t enough to put down The Head of the Table.

On ringside, Kevin and Sami had a brief conversation, during which Sami was clearly concerned about Owens’ health. However, Reigns displayed animalistic brutality and bounced The Prizefighter’s head on steel steps, twice. Then back in the ring, Reigns executed a third stomach-wrecking spear to Kevin, and retained his title.
