Ronda Rousey lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair on the December 30 episode of SmackDown. Ever since then, the fans have not seen her on WWE television. According to Wrestling Observer Dave Meltzer, the former UFC star was snubbed out of the SmackDown Women’s Championship due to her own choice. Meltzer said that the company had initially decided to put Ronda Rousey in a match with Raquel Rodriguez for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 39. However, there has been an alteration in plans that resulted in Charlotte winning the title from her.

Dave Meltzer reported that Rousey wanted to go for the tag team titles alongside her friend Shayna Baszler. The former UFC star was seen pairing with Baszler in segments of SmackDown before losing her title. Meltzer added that Rousey was quite satisfied with her singles run in the company. Going into WrestleMania, she wants to head in a different direction. If rumors are to be believed, Rousey and Baszler will compete for the women’s tag team titles at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

However, it would be interesting to see the creative direction of The Rowdy One when she returns to SmackDown. It is likely that WWE would pair her with Baszler. Nonetheless, the Damage Control are the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. As a result, their storylines would eventually start with them going to WrestleMania. The WWE Universe is excited to see a fresh feud in the Women’s Division.
